How to take care of your teak Atolmar chair.

Your chair is delivered untreated, with no oil added. If you want a slightly deeper color for your chair you can oil it before use. See details below.

If you do not oil it, it will weather into a silvery grey color after some time, 6 months to appr. 2 years. It will become beautiful…. It is the oil within the wood that gives the chair its strength and stability, not oil added to the surface afterwards.

The only thing you should do though is to give it a gentle cleaning yearly, with mild soapy water and a semi-soft brush. Rinse. A teak cleaner can be used, but pine or linseed soap (såpa in Swedish) will do the same job.

Never use a power washer, which would erode the surface. If the surface becomes a bit rough here and there, you can sand it with very fine sandpaper, nothing more.

If you want the deeper color and oil the teak you must remember that this has to be repeated every year, otherwise, the teak will start graying. Use a soft brush with not too much oil on it and give the wood only one thin coat. Start from the bottom and up to avoid streaks. Teak can not be painted or varnished due to the high oil content of the wood.

Winter storage.

We suggest that you fold the chair and put it under cover in a cool area, not inside a heated house.

CARE OF SUNBRELLA FABRIC

For normal cleaning; just hose the fabric off with clean water or use a bucket. Never use a power washer/spray gun. For stains of any kind, take off the seat/back fabric and put in lukewarm water with a mild detergent or dishwasher liquid. Use a soft bristle brush to clean. Let the cleaning solution soak into the fabric for some time.

Rinse thoroughly. Air dry only. Repeat for stubborn spills if necessary.

Enjoy Your Atolmar chair for many years to come…
